Iris the Dragon offers free books to support children in their mental health. From anxiety to emotional development and from the feelings of an ADHD child to supporting children with Asperger's Syndrome, these books are well worth a read for any child and for anyone who spends time with children. Take a look! Anjala came to the school on Thursday to tell us all about Akbar and Birbal. Anjala was so enthusiastic and fun and she used half English and half Hindi to tell us two stories. Some of us already knew about these characters and we loved hearing Hindi at school! Emmanuela visited us on Thursday to read this lovely book for us. We really enjoyed seeing the different parts of the dragon hiding throughout the story. It was so funny! Even those of us who don't speak Italian could understand the story and we loved the texture of the pages! It was so lovely to hear such a lovely Italian story! On Thursday, Lucasz came to read us a story in Polish. He read a great story about Maja's favourite story character, Pippi Longstocking. We had a great discussion in Polish afterwards and Lukasz heard everyone's news - in Polish! It was so great to hear the natural chat in the children's mother language in the school and we all love the strong character of Pippi! Wow! What an amazing day we had for World Book Day! Such an amazing effort everyone went to - we had superheroes, Vikings, traditional characters and so much more. There was great excitement all around the school as friends shared their inspiring books and tales. Lots of children brought in books in their mother language and read them for us, teaching us new words in different languages. Well done to all. Keep reading and keep loving your mother language! Maggie's class have been really busy learning their rhyming words in the past couple of weeks. There are photos of them working on their rhyming words as well as a video of them practicing Mindfulness, over at the Junior Infant page.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kamila read us a Grimm tale in Polish. It was a great tale about three brothers, the magic items they owned and what happened when they lost them.
On Tuesday, Ruth came into the school to read us a lovely Spanish story all about a little fairy with a broken wing but lots of self confidence. It's a beautiful story about how self esteem is what will carry you through!
