The Morning Drop-Off Programme is working well. However, we have had a small number of situations where failure to follow agreed procedures and/or volunteer instructions has caused disruption. It is imperative that no one parks in the yellow box and that all parents work with our volunteers to ensure the safety of our children. This is, of course, our key priority. Please remember that parent volunteers give their time freely to keep the children safe and speed up the drop off process for all involved. Thank you for your continued support.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are delighted to invite you to join us at our upcoming Coffee Morning on Friday 6th of February between 8.45am and 9.40am in the Main Hall beside reception. By doing this we aim to give everyone in our ever growing school community the opportunity to meet and get to know each other. We appreciate how busy life can be for everyone and it’s not always possible to get that opportunity for regular interaction with other parents. We also understand how important it is for parents and children to feel welcome and supported in our school. This will be a lovely opportunity for us all to get together in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and have a casual chat over a nice hot cuppa - no doubt this will be extra welcome on these cold mornings! We ask that everyone joining us be mindful that classes will be running as normal. Depending on interest we really hope to run this as a regular event. We look forward to seeing you all then! Kind regards, Citywest ETNS Parents’ Association There are a few copies of our school calendar remaining. To avoid disappointment, buy yours now from the office! If you can't make it to school to buy one, no problem! Just send €6 in with your child (in an envelope with child's name and stated School Calendar) and your child's teacher will send a calendar home in your child's schoolbag. Book Week and Mother Language Week will now take place from 2nd to 6th March 2015. This is to incorporate World Book Day on the 5th March.
Parent Teacher Meetings will take place in school on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th February. Class teachers will be in touch shortly with allocated times.
Please note, this is an adult-only event. Children will not be allowed into the meeting and may not be left unsupervised outside the classroom. Please make necessary childcare arrangements. We look forward to seeing you. Feb 2015
Dear Parents, The school is continuing the process of policy development which will support its smooth running now and in the future. In line with the democratic ethos of the school, the Board of Management has again invited parents to participate in the development of these policies. This is an exciting opportunity for parents to support the school in policy development which will direct the school’s actions into the future. Policies relate to all stake holders in the school; however the ultimate beneficiaries are our children who attend the school and so for the parent body to be a part of the process is very important. There is a schedule of policies to be developed over the next couple of years. These policy areas range from those relating directly to our children, such as child protection and learning at home, to those relating to the operation of the school, such as building management and emergency closures, as well as communications and data protection. Committees will be made up of teacher, Board of Management and parent representatives. The committee will meet over a number of meetings (1, 2 or 3 depending on complexity of policy area) where templates of policies will be read and adjusted to suit the ethos and needs of the school. It is envisaged that a committee will be developed for each policy, and some committees may take on a couple of policies. Depending on interest, a panel may be formed from which a parent representative can be assigned to developing a policy. Parents are asked to put their name forward if they have a special interest/expertise in an area mentioned above and would like to be involved in policy development. As this is an on-going process you may not be contacted immediately, but your contact details will be kept on file. Please forward your details and special interest to Clara Geaney at citywestetns.parents@gmail.com by Tuesday 3rd February, where your details will be passed onto the Acting Principal, Anita Collings, who is leading the process and compiling committees. Yours sincerely Clara Geaney Citywest Educate Together Parents' Association Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Drop Off scheme has been in place for a number of weeks now. We have a strong group of volunteers who are out there in the morning, helping to run the program and making sure our children reach the school’s door safely. We have reviewed current operating systems and have decided to introduce some changes that will be effective from Tuesday 27th January: Junior Infants will be included in the program. That means parents of children attending JI classes can let one of our volunteers help the child to step out from the car and assist the child into the school. All children using the Drop Off will be entering the school via the main entrance. Note, if the child attending Senior Infant /1st / 2nd class comes to school before 8.30 he/she still has to use the yard entrance, once it’s re-opened, and needs to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parents using the Drop Off can stop the car closer to the main entrance corridor to facilitate smooth and quick turnaround. Here are some general reminders: Drop Off program runs from 8.30-8.40am exclusively. Citywest ETNS volunteers wear YELLOW safety jackets. NEVER leave your child with an adult not wearing a hi-vis jacket or with Scoil Niamh Drop Off staff who wear blue jackets. When coming to the Drop Off zone, stop the car, let the child out promptly and leave immediately to allow others avail of the service. If any JI parents wish to help with morning rota, please sent an email to the PA at citywestetns.parents@gmail.com giving your name and contact number. Regards, Citywest ETNS Parents Association Consent forms from the HSE were sent home today in school bags. Please return to the school office by Thursday 22nd of January.
