Elections will take place tonight, Wednesday 8th of October, at 8pm
in the school. All parents/guardians invited to come along and vote! Contact sharing lists went home yesterday to parents/guardians who have opted to share their contact details with other parents/guardians.
Dear Parents,
We urgently need changes of clothes for children, particularly those in Junior Infants. We would be grateful if you would send in clean elasticated-waisted trousers and underpants. Please note that we cannot hold clothes for a particular child only. Thanks for your help. Regretfully, Moloney Coaches have had to withdraw their service to our school, due to lack of interest. However, over the last two years, we have cultivated a strong relationship with Moloney Coaches and Tony Moloney has committed to revisiting this decision in the future, should the interest arise.
Coming up this half-term are the following important dates in the Parents' Association calendar. Our Parents' Association depends on lots of parents working together. New members are always welcomed. Come along to the AGM to find out more!
30th September Parents' Association Annual General Meeting (AGM) 8th October Elections for the coming year 24th October Half-term disco for the children during the school day - each child to bring 3 euro to school. Dress-up optional. We would like to draw your attention to a slight change to our school calendar. We had previously included a cake sale on 17th October. This has now been postponed to later in the year. Instead, the Parents' Association will host a fancy-dress half-term disco on Friday 24th October. The children can come to school dressed up on this day and bring 3 euro to school as part of our fundraising initiative. It promises to be a fun day!
See photos of last year's disco on the Parents' Association page of our website. Thank you to all of the parents, staff members, Parents' Association members and Board of Management members who came along and participated in our Parent Information Evening tonight.
There was a great turn-out and it was lovely to have time to talk to one another. We hope you enjoyed the evening and found it beneficial. We've had an amazing response to our sad news last weekend that our flowers were vandalised. Children and parents were understandably shocked and disappointed that anyone would do this. Thank you to everyone who showed support at this time. It really does show that we have a great community here at Citywest ETNS!
One parent, Rachel, took it one step further. She went out and bought bulbs and flowers and came to the school to plant them with the children. What a considerate, kind-hearted thing to do! Our First Class pupils had a lovely afternoon in the sun, digging, planting and cleaning up and our window boxes look beautiful again! What a wonderful message for our children to learn - even though there may be people who do nasty things, it can always be overcome with positive attitude, a kind heart and team-work! Hopefully these lovely flowers will be allowed to grow and flourish and to give us happy thoughts for months to come! Now that everyone is back and settled in, we can take some time to look around... We feel very lucky to have very large classrooms and very small class sizes!
5 of our 7 classes have 22 pupils or less! The other two classes have just 25 and 27 pupils each. This gives every child a great opportunity at school - with more teacher time per child and more opportunity for each child to speak and be heard, combined with so much space, brand new resources and, most importantly, enthusiastic and dedicated teachers, it is a wonderful opportunity for each child. All parents and guardians of our pupils are invited to our Parent Information Evening on Thursday 11th September from 6.50pm to 9pm to learn more about our school and about your child's class in particular, as well as to get to know one another. The first day of school is an exciting day for every family. We acknowledge your wish to take photographs of this special occasion. However, we also acknowledge and respect the right of other children to not have their photo taken and/or published, online or elsewhere, without their permission.
Please follow our photography guidelines, which worked very well last year. If everyone co-operates with these, we can continue to allow photographs at the school.
Thank you for your support and co-operation. |
