Wow! What an amazing day we had for World Book Day! Such an amazing effort everyone went to - we had superheroes, Vikings, traditional characters and so much more. There was great excitement all around the school as friends shared their inspiring books and tales. Lots of children brought in books in their mother language and read them for us, teaching us new words in different languages. Well done to all. Keep reading and keep loving your mother language! On Tuesday afternoon, Kamila read us a Grimm tale in Polish. It was a great tale about three brothers, the magic items they owned and what happened when they lost them.
Our very special Mother Language and Book Week has started!
We have lots of stories being read this week by parents in lots of languages - Polish, Lithuanian, Spanish, Catalan, English and Irish! The very important message is: Speaking with your child in your own language is really, really important! Now that the weather is improving, our bike park is filling up!
In our school, we try to WOTT - Walk on Tuesdays and Thursdays! "WOTT" can really mean walk, skip, run, cycle, flik or scoot! Anything to leave the car behind. So help us to fill up our Bike Park with lots of colour and We are still taking names for all classes - Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class - for this September.
Simply complete our pre-enrolment form. Do you know anyone new to the area or looking for a school place? Tell them about us - not everyone knows about us. Thanks! We are absolutely thrilled to announce yet another after-school class at Citywest ETNS. Ole School of Languages will be teaching Spanish to our pupils at an after-school class on Thursdays, starting on 28th February.
Ana and Cristina will visit the school next week to give a taster lesson to the children. It promises to be an interesting way of teaching as they use art, songs and games to teach the language. Lucky Senior Infants and 1st class are benefitting from lots of interesting classes this year!
This morning, both classes started an 8-week course in GAA. Peter will be coaching them in GAA football and in hurling. The first lesson was very enjoyable today and we are really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the course has to offer! Work is progressing as quickly as possible on the new entrance to our school car park (opposite the LUAS terminus).
In the meantime, we are begging you to please be considerate, careful, safe and cautious in accessing the school. Please: - allow residents right of way - drive slowly - park in designated spots only - do not park in the yellow zones - follow the directional arrows Thank you for your consideration and care. Yet another after-school class starts this term - Music with The Mobile Music School. This means that there is an after-school option in our school on every day of the week! Some days we have two or even three options!
See our After-School page for all the details. We are delighted to welcome Nicola McClurg to our team. Nicola starts this week.
As school secretary, Nicola will be our receptionist and administrator. Nicola, you are most welcome! We hope you'll be very happy as part of our community! |
