Aileen will work in Firhouse ETNS two days a week and in Citywest ETNS three days a week. She will be a support teacher in both schools, helping children in their learning and with English in particular. We will be having an Information Meeting for parents and guardians on Wednesday 10th
October 2010. It will be a chance for you to find out about the teaching and learning that happens in your child’s class and how you can support your child’s learning at home. You will also get to meet the teachers working with your child. The Senior Infant meeting is at 8.40am on Wednesday 10th October. The Junior Infant meeting is at 9.00am on Wednesday 10th October. We look forward to seeing you then. We are thrilled to announce that we have been allocated a full-time teacher to support our pupils with additional language needs - that is, children who speak very little English. Aoife Hogan is our new teacher. Aoife has worked in a great number of Educate Together schools and is also experienced in early childhood education. Aoife will be teaching our Senior Infant pupils in the core subjects and will team-teach with Ross in all other curriculum areas. This is a wonderful support for our children and we look forward to introducing them to Aoife on Monday morning! Our Staff page has been updated to include our Learning Support and Language Support teacher, Martina Byrne. Martina is a very busy lady, working in 4 different schools every week! Martina helps us learn for one hour every day. Some days she teaches phonics and maths to our Senior Infant pupils and other days she works with Ross in the classroom, helping to make sure that every child gets the support he or she needs. She also helps us on the yard, teaching us new games and helping us to play together. Thank you SOOO much to the amazing team of volunteers who turned up today to prepare our school for Monday. Every inch was bleached, vacuumed or mopped; every piece of furniture wrapping saved for Art activities; every corner filled with colourful books! Such dedication - thank you! Thank you Leona, Mick, Stephen, Vanessa, Anita, Julie, Kinga, Nico, Anna, Darragh, Alfonso and Marc. Thank you to our caretaker Brian, to our teacher Ross and to our principal Caitriona, each of whom put in very long days recently! It will all pay off on Monday when we see our children safely and happily settled in their school. And huge thanks to James and everyone at Orna Building Services, who put in an amazing 4 weeks' work to get the school ready for us on time. It was a huge challenge and we really appreciate their achievement! Citywest Educate Together National School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ross O Corrain as our classroom teacher! Ross is an experienced Educate Together teacher, with experience in Portlaoise ETNS, Newbridge ETNS and Lucan ETNS. He is also particularly interested in Infant Education and is an Aistear tutor, giving workshops to other teachers on the Aistear framework. His passion is Drama and we look forward to seeing his skills in action in Citywest ETNS! Ross is now very busy getting everything ready for class to start on Monday! With less than two weeks to go until Citywest Educate Together NS opens its doors, we prepare to make history as the very first school to open in Citywest!
