First week of school for Junior Infants

2/9/2015

Such an exciting week! The first week of Junior Infants! Here are some reminders for you...

All week
Junior Infants are on a shortened day for the first two weeks of the school year. Their school day is from 9.10am until 11.40am each day.

Monday 31st August
  • First day of school
  • Please wait outside the front door of the school. We will open the doors and welcome you in at 9.10am. Until then, our teachers are doing important preparations for your children.
  • Walk your child into class and settle them in a chair with an activity.
  • Once your child is settled, say goodbye, tell them you'll be back in two hours and leave the room.
  • If your child is not settling, follow the guidance of the teachers. Please trust that we have experience and also that we will call you if there is a significant problem with your child.
  • In the reception hall, enjoy some light refreshments and chat to other parents.
  • Remember our photography policy - photos allowed but do not post any image of another person's child anywhere online, including social media.

Tuesday 1st to Friday 4th September
  • Do not arrive on the campus before 9am.
Our neighbours Scoil Niamh are reopening on Tuesday 1st September. The car park will be extremely busy until 9am. Please do not worsen the congestion by arriving early. We know you and your child are excited and want to be on time. But please hold back and wait until at least 9am before arriving onto the school site.

A New Year, A New Yard Set Up

1/9/2015

Here we are having a chat about the additions to our Yard Time routine. We have added some interesting initiatives to the yard:

1. Buddy Boxes - these are clearly marked zones on the yard where children can stand if they are looking for a friend to play with.

That way, our friends can see that we are looking for a buddy and come over and ask us to join in!

2. A Quiet Zone - sometimes children don't want to speed around the yard and prefer to have some space and serenity. The Quiet Zone is a place where children can walk or sit without so much hustle and bustle around them.

3. The Garden - our friends the frogs still spend lots of time in the garden and we just love getting to know them! In fact, the frogs are so popular, we have a rota that allows each class to spend time with them!

The new systems are working very well and we are really looking forward to next week, when the new Junior Infants will begin to join us at yard time!

Very important - photography policy

1/9/2015

You may take photos of your child in our school.

However, do not publish any photo that includes another child, even if only in the background. This includes anywhere on the internet, including social media - Facebook, Twitter, etc.

This is for the protection of every child.

Please be respectful of this policy. Breaches will result in a ban on photography.

Thank you.
