We know how important connection is within our community, that’s why this year the Parents Association has put together a team of Parent Buddies for those families new to our school! Each day this week our Buddies will introduce themselves - please do get in touch with any of our team on our Parents Association Facebook Group or by email: citywestetns.parents@gmail.com if you have any questions that we may be able to answer! Meet the buddy team: My name is Jessica, I’m a PA Buddy for older classes and Chair of the Parents Association. My daughters Amelia and Olivia are in Second Class and Senior Infants, and my little boy Alex will be joining them in the school in a few years time. We live in Clondalkin but the trip is worth it for such a great school! If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to get in touch Good morning everyone. I'm a member of the Parents Association buddy initiative. I'm a mother of one daughter Ava, who is going into fifth class this school year. As a parent of a child who has transferred to Citywest ETNS in the recent past, I understand how it feels to be new, and also how it feels to embrace the wonderful Educate Together ethos. It's been a fantastic transfer and experience for Ava, who loves her school. The Citywest ETNS community is always willing to help, and your child/children are in extremely good hands! The school faculty and staff go above and beyond for their students and they really care about the children's overall development and safety. At the moment, I will be available to contact online. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help, in any way. Huge congratulations and welcome to all families beginning their exciting journey at Citywest ETNS today. Best of luck to children, teachers and all the staff returning to school. Enjoy, stay safe and have fun! Hello! I’m Siobhán, mammy to Ollie who’s heading into Senior Infants and Edie who will be joining him in Citywest Educate Together in a couple of years time. I’m one of the PA Buddies this year, so If you see us about the place be sure to say hi and if you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to ask! Hi everyone, My name is Brian and I'm one of the "Buddies" for parents who are new to C.E.T.N.S. Welcome! Hiya I'm Amy, we joined the school last year and live in Rathcoole. I've got 3 children. Keep them coming everyone! Custom rocks have been popping up in local communities, including at our own school gates. This is a fun, simple idea that can be done easily with children young and old! We are inviting families in our school to create their own rocks and upload a photograph of them to the school website so we can display these creations. Typically people place their rocks around the community for others to see. However, we are suggesting something a little bit different. We invite you to hold on to your rocks and when then time comes for us to come back together in school we will bring our rocks back and look at how we might use them around our campus as a memorial to these times. When this time comes, we will invite suggestions from our community as to how best we might use them!
How to make your rock creation: - Pick a rock or stone - Rinse off any mud/muck - Once dry you can use paint, nail varnish, markers, crayons to customise - Seal your rock - this prevents washable paints/markers from washing away when put out. You can use PVA glue, clear nail varnish or even clear varish that you may have. - Most importantly, have fun! We look forward to seeing your creations! We are all truly devastated at the news today that we did not win patronage of the secondary school for Citywest & Saggart.
We were always up against it but we fought long and hard to even get a secondary school for our area in the first place and we could not be more proud and grateful to each and every one of our amazing supporters over the past 5 years ❤️ More information can be found here: https://www.education.ie/…/2019-press-rele…/PR19-12-17a.html Huge thank you to Klaudia for another of her wonderful art & crafts workshops. Families were invited for the afternoon to prepare some beautiful ornaments and decorations for the upcoming holidays. We look forward to the next one!
New officers
The Parents' Association AGM held in October saw our Chairperson Joanne Smith and Secretary Liz Murphy step down from their roles. We thank them both for their many years of dedication to the Parents' Association and they assure us they will continue to be active within the group. Our wonderful treasurer Elizabeth Peral Ruiz will continue in her role. We are delighted that following nomination, Jessica Staines was elected Chairperson with new parent Amy Murphy nominated as Secretary. Yvette Dennis has taken over the role of the all important Drop-off coordinator. We thank Anna Jeziorska for her commitment to this role over the past couple of years. We look forward to a busy year ahead, especially the exciting move to our brand new school building! Date: Thursday 17th October
Time: 7.30pm to 9.30pm Events: Parents' Association AGM and Election of Parents to the Board of Managment Please join us at our AGM and find out all about the events the PA were involved in over the past 12 months and plans for the upcoming year. Elections will be held for two PA positions - Chairperson and Secretary as Joanne Smith and Liz Murphy will be stepping down. The Board of Management are also seeking two parent nominees, one male and one female for the coming term of the Board of Management. As you all are aware by now , a new secondary school will open in Citywest in 2020, following many years of hard work and dedication by parents, students and staff in our school community. The patronage of this new school will now be decided by an Online Patronage Process System (OPPS) where Parents/Guardians will get to vote for their preferred patron to run this school. Please see the information below on how to vote:
We cannot stress enough how important it is to use your vote!! Thank you for your time and most importantly for making the choice for real equality based education for the whole community! #VoteEducateTogether |
