So 'Healthy Living Week' will be all about exploring and trying ways to keep our minds and bodies healthy! Exciting stuff!
On Monday and Tuesday, our class teachers will provide some activities that will help us develop healthy learning skills. We are going to develop Growth Mindsets. This means we will try to see our mistakes and difficulties as clues that our brain is growing. They are not disasters!
On Wednesday and Thursday our hot topic is healthy eating. We will compile our own 'Class Cookbook' of healthy and child friendly recipes. Get thinking about your favourite healthy snacks and meals! We look forward to seeing our school's many cultures through their unique healthy meal suggestions.
Throughout the week each class will learn about different vegetables, participate and engage in a soup cooking demonstration and taste the delicious end result made from scratch and by them! We would appreciate and like the children to bring in either some vegetables, herbs or something completely new to try that we can use as part of our lessons.
Friday is Fruity Friday! Again we would love children to bring in some of their favourite fruits into school on this day. We will be making and sampling healthy and wholesome fruit based smoothies to taste on the day.
On top of all this, we are going to do some mindfulness activities every day. The whole school will be taking 15 minutes every day to enjoy a Mindful Moment. Pupils and staff can enjoy this 'Brain Break' and teachers can choose from a variety of guided mindfulness lessons. Mindfulness is a practice based on focusing our minds on the present moment, accepting ourselves as we are, without judgement of self. It helps us get to know our true selves and supports our mental health. This will help us to focus on the present and give us a tool to help reduce stress.
We look forward to a fun (and fruit) filled week!
