All Classes:
Teddy Bears’ Picnic: Monday 30th of June
Next Monday is our last day of school for this school year.
Children should arrive at 8.30am as usual.
You and your family are welcome to join us at 10am. Bring a picnic and a teddy!
School finishes at 11.30am and we reopen on Monday 1st September.
Help Needed This Friday 27th of June!
This Friday, our teachers will be working hard on packing up the school for the summer, as well as teaching the children! There is building work taking place in the school this summer and so we need to clear walls and move furniture.
We would love to have lots of helpers!
If you are free for one hour or for five hours, please just turn up on Friday, ready to work! Any time from 8.30am would be great but feel free to turn up later if the morning doesn’t suit you.
Thank you so much. Together we can do great things!

It’s hard to believe that we are in the second last month of the school year already! What a busy year we’ve had! We are looking forward to a busy last term, with lots more exciting events planned. Please note these dates in your diary. Separate notes will follow about these events.
Board of Management:
Our Board of Management are now sharing their Agreed Report with the school community. The Agreed Report is the portion of the meeting minutes that are not confidential. You can read the Agreed Report for our meetings on the Board of Management page of our website.
Spare Clothes Needed
On occasion, children have accidents at school. It is nicer for the children to be able to change straight away and not have to sit in wet clothes while waiting for a parent to arrive with dry ones. We would be grateful for donations of clean tracksuit bottoms and clean, new underwear for children age 5 to 8.
Absences:
If your child is absent, please remember to email the school or to write a note to your child's teacher on the first day back. Please include all dates missed in your note. Any notes distributed during your child’s absence can be collected from the box with your child's teachers name inside the main entrance to the school.
Food Dudes
The children are really enjoying the Food Dudes programme. The aim of the programme is to change eating habits and so we hope that we will see lots more fruit and vegetables in the lunchboxes from now on!
School Policies
As a new school, we have a lot of policy development taking place. Our Board of Management has planned which policies we will be working on during each school term for the next two years, and beyond. New policies are posted to our website. Please keep yourself up-to-date.
We recently updated our Code of Conduct, which includes a Code of Behaviour, Positive Communication policy, Anti-Bullying policy, Dignity at Work policy, Complaints Procedure and Code of Professional Conduct. We also approved a Mission Statement for our school. These are very important policies and
you are encouraged to read them, most particularly the Code of Behaviour.
In May and June, we hope to work on the following policies and we are looking for parents to help us:
If you would like to be involved, please e-mail Clara and Dave, who represent your Parents’ Association, at citywestetns.parents@gmail.com. You can also read a letter from them about this on the Parents’ Association page of our website.
Outstanding Monies:
There are a number of families who have not paid the booklist cost for the 2013/14 school year in full. We have already spent this money on your child. We work hard to keep costs as low as possible for families but this is only possible if everyone pays. If you think you may have amounts outstanding, please talk with Nicola or Caitriona about it. Prompt payment is appreciated. If you are having difficulties with money, please come and speak with us about it. We will be happy to arrange a payment plan for you.
Book Covering:
Thank you so much to the two parents who have volunteered to help us cover the reading books for the children. We have 100s of books and covering them will ensure that they last longer and so saves money for you. We need more people to help with this task. It’s a great way to get to know other parents and to help your school! Please let Nicola or Caitriona know if you can spare an hour or two (or more!) to help out.
Parents’ Association:
Our Parents’ Association has become quite active, as you may have noticed! They organised a super Easter disco for the children, which everyone enjoyed. The Parents’ Association have their own page on our website and also post their news on our Facebook page. They will post their news on the noticeboard opposite the front door of the school too! Do get in touch with them if you have skills you would like to offer or a particular passion you’d like to share!
