I hope you and your families have had - and continue to enjoy - a happy and healthy summer.
Our Board of Management and school leadership team continue to plan for the return to school. As we do this, we would like to make sure that you are part of that planning.
Surveys
We have two surveys to distribute this week. This first one is released with this email - see proposal included in email. This survey will close at 2pm this Wednesday, 12th August, so that we can issue a decision to you this Friday, 14th August. This survey takes approx 2 minutes to complete.
The second survey will be released on Wednesday afternoon - see description below. This survey will close at 2pm next Monday, 17th August, so that teachers can use the results next week to plan ahead of the start of the school year.
I strongly encourage you to take both surveys. This is your chance to shape what school is like for the coming school year. We can only work with the information we have and we very much value your input.
Loan of a device from the school
We have reopened the application for the loan of a device from the school. If you do not have a device that your child can work on at home, please apply. Those who were loaned devices last term should re-apply if you need a device.
We intend to distribute devices from the start of the school year so that we can support families in developing a strong skill-set and routines around using them.
Further emails you can expect from the school this month
Further communications will be as outlined below. At this time, it is particularly important that you read all communications from the school.
Looking forward to working with you again this year,
In partnership,
Caitriona.
Survey 1: Return to School and Staggering the start of the new school year
Return to School
As we look at classroom layouts and so on, it is crucial that we know the number that will be in each class. Please let us know if your child will not be returning to our school.
Staggering the start of the new school year
Please consider the proposal as outlined in the email and let us know your preference and your capacity for it.
Survey 2 - Distance Learning
While we very much hope to keep our school building open for the full school year, we acknowledge that it seems likely that there may be times of school building closure during the year.
We want to have our distance learning plan prepared in advance, communicated to all and to have all (school staff, pupils and parents) up-skilled and ready to go. We hope that doing this will reduce anxiety in our community and make for more productive learning, should we need to move to distance learning.
To do that, we want to know what worked for you last term, what didn't work and what ideas you have.
We will have questions on the following topics: Platforms, pupil:teacher interactions, parent:teacher communication, ANA support (where relevant), physical supports (workpacks, art supplies), whole-school community, use of workbooks
There will be questions for children in this survey also.
Please take the time to respond. Your responses to our survey in April were formative in creating our plan for the last term. You gave us clear and useful feedback and we look forward to receiving the same this time around.
