Our Junior Infant pupils have been starting school at 9.10am and finishing at 11.40am for the last 1.5 weeks. Today, they start on a full day. This means that we have 66 additional children and 42 additional families accessing our school for the 8.30am start and for the 1.10pm finish. Please take extra care this week as they adjust to the new time and to the bustling campus that we are on at congested times, particularly in the mornings.
Sarah OT's Senior Infants - will be collected from the library off the GP Hall at the end of the school day this week. If you come to the front door as normal, you will see us to your left as you approach the front door.
Tadhg's 2nd, Bobby's 2nd and Julie Ann's 3rd classes - for this week only, please note that access is as follows:
- Children arriving before 8.30am in the morning should go to their line as usual, 2nd class to the main door of the school and Julie Ann's class to the yard.
- Children arriving after 8.30am in the morning should be escorted to the external door of the classroom, which is at the front of the building facing out onto the drive between the car park and the drop-off zone. Only leave your child once they have entered the classroom. Do not leave your child outside the classroom.
- Children will be dismissed directly from the external door of the classroom.
Classroom visits
We look forward to seeing parents and family members of children in both 2nd classes and in Eldon's 3rd class at 1.30pm this Wednesday for their classroom visit.
Unfortunately, we have had a further delay in building work and Sarah OT's Senior Infants, Julie Ann's 3rd class, Aisling's 4th class and Aoife's 5th class will not be moving in to their new classrooms until the end of the week. Therefore, visits for these classes are postponed until Wednesday 20th September. Please accept our apologies for this further delay, which is out of our control.
School photographs
County Photos will come to the school on Friday 29th September to take individual and sibling photos of children in Junior Infants and of all children new to the school since last September. If your child is in our school longer than that and you would like to have his/her photo taken, please let us know. Proofs will be sent home in mid October, along with pricing options.
School Attendance
Good school attendance is very important. Please aim for high attendance rates for your child. If your child is absent, please use the form on the school website to inform us of the reason for the absence. We maintained attendance over 90% for most of last year, just falling at the last hurdle and achieving just 87.8% attendance in June. With only two other months last year during which attendance dipped under 91%, we would love to complete this school year with attendance over 91% every single month. We stayed over 91% for the one day we were here for August so that's a great start!
Every day your child attends school helps. Of course, you should not send your child to school sick. But if you sleep late or have a morning appointment, there is no need to miss the full school day - just come in as early as you can make it. When making appointments, please be guided by school times and arrange the appointments for after school or at least late in the school day so your child can attend for most of the day. When booking trips away, please be guided by our school calendar and plan to travel during school closures.
If you received communication from our Attendance Officer in relation to poor school attendance last year, do try to improve your child's attendance this year.
If your child was given a fair or poor grade for punctuality last year, make it your goal to be in by 8.40am every morning this year!
