School-Home Communication

Most home-school communication for our school is electronic - via our website, via e-mail and via text.

Please make sure to check our website and your e-mail regularly so that you keep up-to-date. Once you have read an e-mail from us, please click to acknowledge receipt so that we know you have received it.

While we aim to reduce the number of paper notes sent home, there will be times when it is necessary. If you think you may have missed a note, please check with Nicola, our school secretary, either in person or via e-mail.

It is your responsibility to make sure that we have up-to-date contact details for you. Please use the button below to let us know if any details have changed.

16th and 27th Feb - email to parents of children in 3rd and 4th classes - Free computer classes

Dear parents and guardians,
Focus on ICT/computers
As you know, we are focussing this year on building our ICT resources and starting to roll out ICT programmes in the school.
We have already secured a class set of laptops, which the children use in class on a timetabled basis, and we are working on securing a class set of tablets too. Our staff are undertaking professional development in this area and we are excited to see where this leads us.
Of course, we love to see parents and guardians getting involved and sharing their skills with us too.

Free after-school workshops
Zuleikha Khan, whose daughter is in 4th class, is offering free workshops to the children on basic computer skills.
After school on (dates given - see email for details), Zuleikha will work with a group of children using the school student laptops and a classroom in the school. This is a trial set of workshops. Zuleikha would love to develop the workshops further in time, most likely in the direction of web design. We will be using these two workshops as learning experiences.
Zuleikha will have completed the Garda vetting procedure for our school before the workshops take place.

What to do
These workshops are completely voluntary and not at all obligatory.
If you would like for your child to stay after school on BOTH days to take part in the workshops, please reply to this email to let us know. As for all after-school activities, the children will go directly to the workshop from their classroom and you can collect them at the later time of 3pm.
Please let us know by Friday 3rd March whether your child would like to take part. We are offering this to children in 3rd and 4th classes only. Places will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you have any questions about this, please ask. This is a new venture for us and we will be learning a lot. Questions are great for helping us to clarify our thinking!

Many thanks and kind regards,
Caitriona.
