School-Home Communication

Most home-school communication for our school is electronic - via our website, via e-mail and via text.

Please make sure to check our website and your e-mail regularly so that you keep up-to-date. Once you have read an e-mail from us, please click to acknowledge receipt so that we know you have received it.

While we aim to reduce the number of paper notes sent home, there will be times when it is necessary. If you think you may have missed a note, please check with Nicola, our school secretary, either in person or via e-mail.

It is your responsibility to make sure that we have up-to-date contact details for you. Please use the button below to let us know if any details have changed.

16th June - email to all families: Wonderful news about our permanent building!

Dear parents and guardians,
We are delighted to be able to share some wonderfully positive news with you today!

We visited the Department of Education (DES) offices in Tullamore yesterday afternoon, together with management and Patron representatives from both schools, where we met with DES Senior Planners in relation to permanent buildings for our schools.

At this meeting, we were shown floor plans for both schools. We will continue to share a campus when we relocate and we look forward to continuing to work closely together.

We are very excited about the plans for our schools. Both schools will have 16-classroom buildings, with two special classes each as well as a GP Hall each and separate outdoor play areas.

We still do not know the exact location of our permanent campus but we are assured that it will be within walking distance of our current campus.

It is hoped that planning permission will be applied for over the summer. At that time, the intended location, ground plans and building plans will be made public.

The timeframe for moving will depend on whether there are planning objections. Fortunately, once planning is granted, DES expect that we should be on site approximately one year after that. We feel very fortunate to have been placed on the Rapid Build Scheme, which makes that fast turn-around possible.

Please be assured that we will continue to be well provided for in our current building until such time as our permanent building is ready. We are very lucky with such wonderful provision for our temporary accommodation and we are thankful to DES and DDLETB for taking such good care of us.

We look forward to sharing more good news with you as we get it!

Caitriona Hand,                       Seamus Conboy,
Principal,                                 Principal,
Citywest ETNS.                       Citywest and Saggart CNS.
