We are looking forward to welcoming parents and guardians to our school this Thursday evening for an Information Evening.
Reminder that children will not be permitted admission to the school for this - this event is for adults only.
This is an event that occurs once per school year and is a valuable opportunity to learn about your child's life at school, to hear about their teacher's approaches and priorities and to get some ideas on how you can best support your child this year. Please come along if you can.
Talks will start promptly so as to allow parents with a number of children in the school attend all talks relevant to their family. Please plan to arrive early so as not to disrupt the talk for other parents.
7pm Junior Infants - Claire, Laura and Orla will each present to parents of children in their own classes
7.15pm 1st class, 5th class and Leonie's class
7.30pm 2nd class
7.45pm Senior Infants - Mary Treasa, Sarah C and Sarah OT will each present to parents of children in their own classes
8pm Eldon's 3rd class and Aisling's 4th class
Parents of children in Julie Ann's 3rd class were sent a separate email last week - Julie Ann will not be here on Thursday but offered two alternatives to parents: 2.10 on Wednesday 20th September and 7pm on Thursday 5th October. One family has let us know they will be here on 5th October so that talk will go ahead.
In addition to these talks, I will be hosting meetings at 7.15pm and again at 7.45pm where I hope to get ideas from parents and guardians on how you would like to be involved in school life this year - please come along and give your constructive ideas. Please note that these meetings will be held using a restorative approach, with the basic understanding of the meeting being that we are all doing our best for the school and want the best for the school and will work together towards a shared aim. If you have a grievance of any kind, this is not the forum to air that.
The staff of Citywest ETNS will have tea, coffee and cordial available for parents and will be available outside of their own talk times to chat with parents. We hope you will come along and chat with us. We are a community and value time together, getting to know each other and strengthening ties.
New bus service
A group of parents worked hard last year to set up a school bus service but unfortunately it never got off the ground due to lack of take-up. Those parents have now secured places on the bus service provided by Stepping Stones Creche and have asked me to let you know about it. This notice comes with no recommendation from the school. We are simply passing on the message. As with anyone you hand your child to, you should satisfy yourself as to the safety and care standards provided. The bus driver's name is Charles and his phone number is 0861551257. He is happy to bring children to local areas such as playschools or agreed meeting points.
