School-Home Communication

Most home-school communication for our school is electronic - via our website, via e-mail and via text.

Please make sure to check our website and your e-mail regularly so that you keep up-to-date. Once you have read an e-mail from us, please click to acknowledge receipt so that we know you have received it.

While we aim to reduce the number of paper notes sent home, there will be times when it is necessary. If you think you may have missed a note, please check with Nicola, our school secretary, either in person or via e-mail.

It is your responsibility to make sure that we have up-to-date contact details for you. Please use the button below to let us know if any details have changed.

26th June 2020: Email to all families - Summer Survival

Well, wasn't that a year and a half in just a few months?!
What a year!
I am so honoured to be part of such a wonderful, warm, supportive, cohesive community and I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for so much support during such a unique year. We did it together and we did our children proud. Thank you for working with us through it all.

Reopening at the end of August
We still don't know what school will look like when we return. Planning groups will be back to work in mid August and will continue our planning then, based on guidelines that we hope will have issued by that stage. I encourage you to support each other in the meantime. We all have our days when it feels like it's all too much and all we can do is turn to a good friend and let them help us through it. I hope that you continue to provide that support for each other.
As suggested by our very engaged Parents Association, we have developed a Summer Survival kit. Please take a look. It gives clear ideas on how to help your child prepare for returning to school.

Please note some late additions to the school expenses lists, based on our reopening plans so far:
  • Wellies and raincoats for all children
  • 2 pencil cases per child - one for home and one for school
  • Bring in the books from the year just gone as well as your new books
  • A spare set of clothes for each child
All of these will help us to stop spreading and sharing germs at school and between home and school as well as help us figure out where each child is at in terms of the curriculum.
Please note that it is just management and planning groups that will return mid August and it will be just for planning the reopening. The school office closes today at 2pm and will reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday 25th August for one day. Wednesday 26th August is a staff induction day and staff members will not be available to answer queries that day. School reopens on Thursday 27th August - details yet to be advised.

Finishing today
As it is the last day of term, teachers will be archiving their Seesaw accounts this afternoon and there will not be access to Seesaw after that.

Goodbye to 6th Class
We had a lovely Graduation Day on Wednesday for our graduates. On behalf of the whole community, I thank the children and parents of that group. You are the first group ever to complete your primary education at Citywest ETNS and you had a hugely formative effect on our school. We will miss you and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.

I hope you all have a lovely Summer break and I look forward to seeing you at the start of the new school year.
All the best,
Caitriona.
