For anyone who missed it last Friday saw another of our wonderful family arts & crafts workshops. These workshops are becoming a great tradition in our school giving us parents an opportunity to get together along with our children and enjoy an afternoon full of fun and creativity. The purpose of this workshop was to prepare our school for participating in the upcoming St. Patricks Day Parade - details in the post below. A huge thank you to all the wonderful enthusiastic adults and children who turned up to participate in this workshop - we really hope you enjoyed yourselves! As always we are very grateful to all the parents who volunteered their time to make this happen. In particular to Klaudia for organising the event. Check out the photo's below! What: Rathcoole/Saggart St. Patrick’s Day Parade When: Friday March 17, 2017 Time: 1.00p.m. Where: Community Centre, Rathcoole Who: All children and their families Dear Parents, We are going to go ahead with the parade! We’ve had a lot of people show interest in attending on the day and as we’ve had so much fun in previous years, we might as well just go for it! Details of the Parade The Parade runs from the beginning of Rathcoole, but we are going to meet the parade at Rathcoole Community Centre and walk through with the parade to Saggart GAA club. The theme of this year’s parade is famous movies, so we are asking parents to dress their kids in anything animal like (animal print hats, scarves, jumpers) to represent the movie “Sing” or for kids to wear any bright T-Shirts/Jackets etc. We want the children to stand out and look like a group! We are also asking parents to send their children in with any small percussion instruments you might have at home (tambourines, small drums etc). We are hoping to make lots of noise and look colourful to celebrate our school. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout the parade. There will be people helping out on the day, but we can’t be responsible for your child, someone must accompany them. It’s quite a walk up to Saggart and the parade won’t be over until 3.30pm where it ends in Saggart GAA Club, so make sure you bring water/snacks for your child. We will be all walking together and plan to be singing the Educate Together Song as we walk though, so have a practice with your children and get ready to chant! Thanks for your support with this event. Kind regards, The Parents’ Association Patrick’s Day Committee Educate Together Song: Everywhere we go-o Pe-ople want to know-o Who we a-are And where we come from So we tell them We're from Educate Together Citywest Mighty, mighty Citywest And if they can't hear us We sing a little louder ![]() For those of you who were with us the last couple of years, we’ve had a really great time at the local Rathcoole/Saggart Patrick’s Day Parade. It would be great to make the school’s attendance at the parade a tradition but in order to do it we need some volunteers. The support from parents that is needed is to help plan for the event, to agree chants/songs to sing as we parade and to have parent who might be particularly vocal and would support the event by leading the group. Entering the parade is a great way to show the community that we are here and here to stay! Plus it’s a lovely opportunity for the children to jointly celebrate an important date in the Irish year and for us parents to meet up to represent and celebrate the school. If you would like to attend with your child(ren) but don’t want to volunteer that’s fine, but we need an idea of numbers in order to make plans. Please email [email protected] to let us know if you would like to come along, and help out on the day. Thanks for your support with this event! On Friday 10th of March the PA will host a family Arts and Crafts workshop after school. This is to prepare for our school's participation in the local Rathcoole/Saggart St Patrick's Day Parade. All are welcome even if you do not plan on attending the Parade so please join us for a fun and creative afternoon!
