Skills for Learning
At school, we spend a lot of time working on skills needed for learning. Learning at home might be a new and challenging experience for us. We need to take the time to learn these skills at home so that it will be successful.
Parents:
Quite often, we can expect things to just happen and we get frustrated when they don't. We need to slow down to speed up! What we mean is: give lots of support and allow lots of time, patience, energy and praise in the beginning and then slowly pull back the support. This will allow the children to develop confidence and independence over the longer term. There will be times when you will need a fresh injection of time, patience, energy and/or praise and that's ok. As educators, parents and teachers just choose what the highest priority need is, put energy into that and then move onto the next priority.

Learning at home
During the 2020/2021 school year, we put lots of work into preparing for distance learning, should it be required. We surveyed our community to find out what they found difficult or challenging during periods of home learning and created these plans to help.
We feel they are still relevant now and hope they can be of benefit.
