Environmental Awareness Fortnight Junior Section

Environmental Awareness Fortnight took place in February in Citywest ETNS!

​This is our Junior Section, where you will find activities from pupils in Junior Infants - 2nd class. If you are in an older class, make sure you go to the Senior Section.

"I made a bird feeder necklace as a way to help to look after our local environment. I made it using some wire and some leftover bread and raisins. I live in an apartment so we tied the necklace to our balcony railing beside our flower boxes. I'm hoping to see the birds visit our balcony for their treats!"

"Since the lockdown has started we go more than ever to the duck pond close to where we live. We have been trying to understand how we can do good for the local wildlife and help them through the winter. Feeding ducks is always something we enjoy but we want to do the right thing and Jacob created this leaflet that could help us understand what is good for the ducks and nature around us."

"There is a lot of air pollution at the moment due to smoke from lots of industries and vehicles.
We need to move towards electric vehicles and reduce the industries so that the smoke will be less. We also need to plant lots of trees to get clean air."

Seán has been very busy and he told us all about his creations: "I made a robot using some empty boxes, I made a house with my dad and my brother using a very big box and I used an empty bottle to make a pencil holder. I put some stickers and some colourful tape."

Two students from Emer's class had great fun litter picking around the neighbourhood.
They collected lots of litter! They noticed that lots of face masks and coffee cups were discarded outside the shop. They want everyone to remember to bin their masks when they are finished with them.
