NCSE-approved educational psychologists
The Department of Education and National Council for Special Education have published their list of approved psychologists for this school year (SCPA Panel 2024/25). Parents seeking a private educational assessment for their child can contact one of these professionals to seek further information, including time-line and cost
Assessment of Need
Parents seeking a multi-disciplinary assessment, generally including psychologist, speech and language therapist and occupational therapist, can apply via the Assessment of Need process. This assessment is free but takes considerable time, given public waiting lists.
Community Counselling
Village Counselling Service is a low-cost counselling option for people of all ages, including children, based in Killinarden.
Drop-in advice clinic with Psychologist
The HSE run a parent advice drop-in clinic once a month, where parents can seek advice from a clinical psychologist, without bringing their child with them. The HSE run a similar clinic with an Occupational Therapist also. The HSE have some lovely advice/guidance leaflets too - worth checking out!
St. Kevin's Family Resource Centre
St. Kevin's Family Resource Centre provide activities, counselling and classes for all the family.
