Active Fortnight Overview

Citywest Educate Together staff get ready for Active Fortnight!
Welcome to Citywest ETNS Active Fortnight! As we near the end of the final term, we all know that Sports Day is a day that many children look forward to. Sadly, this year we will not get the opportunity to host the sports day and be together.

So for the next two weeks, we want you to get involved in our VIRTUAL SPORTS DAY! We understand that no one day will suit everyone so instead you can decide when you can or want to join in! For every day or for one day! You choose what you would like to do! You can do it in your bedroom, in a garden or in the park. We would love for you to share your experiences of active fortnight so please do send in your items below!

The Shopping List

This is up to you.....but Sports Day is not complete without a few Jelly Snakes and Mi-Wadi to wash it all down. A few other simple ideas are ice-cream & wafer, popcorn, strawberries/fruit. For the younger children how about some bubbles and chalk. Click here for the full list. This

Ready, Set, Go...  The Activities

Below you will find a list of activities for Active Fortnight. We suggest doing one a day but you might want to spend more or less time on any one of the activities. As a guide within each activity there are three different tasks with different levels of difficulty excluding the nature walk and traditional sports day activities. The first task is easier and is marked with one * and more suitable for the junior end of our school. While the third one is the hardest and will be marked with three stars ***.

The Government guidelines recommend 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity five days a week for children. The important thing is that no matter what your age or circumstance you need to keep moving! Keeping active is vital for a healthy body, mind and well being.

Enjoy tracking your activities for the next two with the Citywest ETNS Active Fortnight booklet!

Activity 7 - Yoga
Today, let's try something different! Yoga is absolutely fantastic for your body, and for your mind. It helps you to stretch out and strengthen your muscles, whilst also making you focus on your breathing. There are lots of great yoga resources available online, try looking on YouTube or Twinkl! We have included a few to start you off. Give some of these yoga poses and activities a try!

Activity 8- Design your own obstacle course
Your activity for today is to design your own obstacle course! Obstacle courses are such a fun form of exercise. You can do this inside if you clear some space, or outside on a driveway or garden. Just make sure you have an adult to help you and make sure you are safe!
Look at these obstacle course activities for inspiration. They all have little equipment, so just use whatever you can find. You can make a fun obstacle course using only chalk, sticky notes,  or masking tape!
