We had a wonderful visit yesterday from Margaret and Lucia who talked to us about Babushka Boxes (gifts in a shoebox for the elderly living in the shadow of the Chernobyl disaster). As part of our Ethical Education programme, we are learning about giving and we are excited to be part of this initiative.
Over the next week, each class in the school will be working on a project to fill two shoeboxes, one for a Dedushka (Grandfather) and one for a Babushka (Grandmother).
To this end, we are asking interested children/parents to bring in one item for the box. Ideas include:
· Toiletries
· Dominos / Playing cards / Suduko
· Jewellery
· Reading glasses
· Pencils/ Notebooks
· Gloves/ Scarves / Socks
· Towels
· Underwear
· Soft sweets in a packet (any other type of food will not be accepted)
We are also looking for empty shoeboxes so if you have any to spare at home, please send them in.
More information on this project can be found at www.pashli.org.
It is nice to know that our school will make some people smile over the coming weeks.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Anita Collings
