Artwork around the school

25/2/2020

We are now in our 7th week in our new school building - we cannot quite believe it! In those 7 weeks, we have really settled in and it certainly feels like home.

We have begun to put our own stamp on the place, by putting up some fabulous artwork in the corridors around the school. Take a look at some of these wonderful displays!

Parent-Teacher meetings

18/2/2020

Parent-Teacher meetings took place last week, between the 10th and 14th of February. These meetings allow us to have a discussion about each child's strengths, successes, skills and areas for improvement. It was our first set of Parent-Teacher meetings in our new school building, which was an added bonus! Having a good home-school relationship is very important to us and is beneficial for every pupil.

Thanks to all of the parents and guardians who attended!

Credit Union Quiz teams

10/2/2020

Picture
Congratulations to our wonderful quiz teams, who took part in the Credit Union quiz in the Tallaght West branch. It was the highest ever turnout for the event, with 32 teams taking part! We are very proud of our teams, who represented our school so well.

Our January News Update

4/2/2020

February has arrived and we cannot quite believe that we are beginning our second month in our new school. What an exciting month January was, with so much going on. It has been a very historic time for us, as we finally settle into our wonderful new home.

Here is a snapshot of what has been happening in January:

Welcoming pupils & families to our new building
On Monday the 6th January, we celebrated our momentous moving day by inviting our families to come and visit our new school building during the last hour of the school day.

Unpacking and sorting our school resources
It has certainly been a busy month, with staff and students busy unpacking all of the boxes which had been so carefully packed and moved from our old school!

Happiness
Our value for the month of January was very suitable for us - happiness! Children discussed and identified lots of different ways in which they can make their friends, their families, their teachers and themselves happy!

Basketball coaching
Thanks to South Dublin Co. Council Sports Partnership, basketball coaching began in the last week of January, for pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes.

GAA coaching
GAA coaching continues this month for 2nd classes, with 3rd class due to begin their coaching in February.

The Echo
We featured in the Echo once again during the month of January! We had a lovely 2-page spread, documenting the move to our new school building, including photos from our first day - we were very proud!

1st Class visited the National Gallery
One of our First Class pupils, Callie, had her portrait of her Senior Infants teacher hanging in the National Gallery of Ireland for the past few months, after she won the Zurich Young Portrait Prize. Her class decided to go for a visit, and see it for themselves!

Open Evening for Prospective Parents
We hosted our annual Open Evening for prospective parents on Thursday the 23rd January. There was a great turnout, with lots of people coming to see our new school building and learn all about life in Citywest ETNS!

International Visitors
Caitríona and Anita welcomed two international visitors, all the way from Belgium! Katrien and Isabelle came to discuss how literacy is led and developed in our school and to share ideas and expertise.
