We have been treated to a radio bulletin as Gaeilge each day, in which we hear a weather report, a news report, and Frása an Lae (Phrase of the Day), in which we are encouraged to try to use a simple phrase later in the day. We are all so proud as we listen to the children from Third Class reading with confidence.
Seachtain na Gaeilge has come to life this year more than ever before at Citywest ETNS, thanks to the efforts of Mary and her wonderful Third Class students. Ach ní hé sin an méid (But that's not all)! We are also treated to a daily drama! Five children from Third Class visit us each morning and put on a little play for us. They are doing our school proud! Well done Rang a Trí!
Following on from the success of our first 6 week series of Irish classes for parents, a second series will be kicking off tomorrow morning. Parents who have attended the classes to date have given very positive feedback, saying that the classes are enjoyable and interesting. But for those of you who are not available in the morning time, we are delighted to announce that a series of evening classes will be kicking off this Tuesday evening. Classes take place in the Meeting Room, 7.30-8.30p.m. These are relaxed lessons for beginners with an emphasis on conversational Irish. They are suitable for anybody in our school community - whether you have learned Irish before or not. You will gain a basic grasp of Irish vocabulary and sentence structure. Your confidence with the language will grow, helping you support your child's learning of Irish. As Seachtain na Gaeilge approaches, this is the perfect time to brush up your Irish or pick up your first cúpla focal (couple of words). If you would be interested in attending Irish classes, at a cost of €3 per class, on Monday mornings (8.45am) or Tuesday evenings (7.30pm), and you have not previously contacted us, please fill in the form below. Inniu, chuireamar ceolchoirm Gaeilge i láthair sa halla. Bhí seans ag gach rang amhráin nó rann a chasadh do na ranganna eile agus bhaineamar go léir an-taitneamh as.
Today, we presented an Irish concert in the hall. Every class had a turn to sing a song or say a poem for the other classes. Everybody really enjoyed the show. Inniu, eagraíodh cruinniú idir an Comhairle Gaeilge - comhairle sealadach a chuireadh le chéile chun ócáidí spraoiúla a eagrú don scoil mar chuid de Sheachtain na Gaeilge. Bhí urlabhraí nó dhó ó ghach rang sa scoil, chomh maith le cúpla múinteoir, agus d'éirigh leo fís don tseachtain a chur le chéile. Táimid go léir ag tnúth go mór leis na heachtraí deasa a bheidh ar bun idir 16-20 Márta! Today, a meeting of the Irish Council was organised - a temporary council that has been put together to arrange fun events for the school as a part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. There was at least one representative from each class, as well as a few teachers, and they have put together a vision for the week. We are all looking forward to the lovely activities that will take place between 16-20 March! |
