Ceolchoirm Sheachtain na Gaeilge

20/3/2015

Inniu, chuireamar ceolchoirm Gaeilge i láthair sa halla. Bhí seans ag gach rang amhráin nó rann a chasadh do na ranganna eile agus bhaineamar go léir an-taitneamh as.
Today, we presented an Irish concert in the hall. Every class had a turn to sing a song or say a poem for the other classes. Everybody really enjoyed the show.

End of Term Disco !!

20/3/2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Friday 27th of March a disco to celebrate the end of term will take place during the school day. The children have the option to arrive at school in fancy dress costumes.

This is a fundraising event being hosted by the Parents' Association.

The money raised from this event will go towards our school joining ReCreate.  This company involves the school paying an annual fee of €200 which gives us unlimited access to arts and crafts resources for the school.  Recreate are themselves a social enterprise, which sources their material from surplus and end of line stock from other businesses – thus allowing companies dispose of their materials in an environmentally aware fashion.  For the school to join Recreate would be both economical and fitting with the school ethos, that of care for the environment. More information can be found on recreate.ie.  Any further monies collected will be put towards Irish week for the school, whereby the school can purchase materials/resources directly relating to celebrating all that is Irish!

We are requesting a €3 donation from each child. Your child's teacher will collect the money from the children on arrival at their classroom  on the day of the disco.

Please show your support by donating – if every child gives €3 we will raise close to €500 – all donations welcome!!

The end of term disco is becoming a great fun tradition at our school and we look forward to seeing all the super dance moves again!

Any parents who would like to help out on the day please email the Parents Association: citywestetns.parents@gmail.com

Kind regards,

Citywest ETNS Parents' Association

How to add tens and units - an instructional video

18/3/2015

Second Class have been very busy over the past few weeks - writing scripts and preparing a presentation to be recorded and published on our school YouTube channel. They have made these videos to help children and their parents when they are adding two-digit numbers at home. Having these videos should help parents to see how we add two-digit numbers at school, so that children do not get confused by parents and teachers explaining things in different ways.
Check out the post on Second Class' website for more.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

18/3/2015

Yesterday, for the first time ever, our school took part in the Rathcoole/ Saggart St. Patrick's Day Parade. We had a fantastic turnout, and were very lucky with the weather. Everybody made a great effort to get in the spirit of things and wear festive clothing, and the children loved marching proudly with our new banner. Take a close look at the banner - it's made up of pictures drawn and coloured by our pupils!
We are currently collecting all the photos that were taken, so watch out here for a full video, but in the meantime, here's a small taste of how it looked!
