They took lots of time to answer our questions individually and the children really enjoyed the chat.
Today we had a visit from four members of Dublin Fire Brigade. Brian, John, Steven and Sarah came from Tallaght Fire Station to talk to us about Fire Safety, and about what it is like to be a Fire Fighter. They took lots of time to answer our questions individually and the children really enjoyed the chat. Please note that access to the school is through the yard only for the remainder of this week.
This is to enable extensive work to take place on the roof tiles at our entrance. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ![]() Maths Week 2014 took place from 11 to 19 October and we had a great time opening our Maths Eyes at school! All of the classes had a particular focus on Maths throughout the week, with the infant classes playing lots of Maths games, and First and Second class even having a Maths Quiz on Friday afternoon! Parents had an opportunity to get involved by checking out the maths trail signage throughout the school. Congratulations to John McManus who won the Guess the Amount competition, when he guessed that the small jar had more cubes than the larger one. (The large jar contained 125 blocks and the smaller one, 129). Watch out on the individual class websites for more information about their Maths Week activities!
Senior Infants, 1st class and 2nd class - Notes went home today in schoolbags updating parents/guardians on our school drop-off programme. Email versions also went to parents/guardians who have opted out of paper correspondence.
Junior Infants and new children to Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class only.
Proofs went home last week in school bags. Today is the last day for ordering the photos. If you are interested please return the proofs with your order form and payment. If you are not interested, please return the proofs to the office. Did you know that the Mobile Library visited our school on 25th September? The children from First and Second Classes had an opportunity to borrow two books, which they will return when the library visits again this month.
Below is a schedule for the library's visits between now and the end of the term. ![]() In the past couple of weeks, the children in all of our classes have been very lucky to have a visit with Garda Frank Howe, from Rathcoole Garda Station. Garda Frank talked with us about Road Safety - using the Safe Cross Code, and also about being sure to buckle up when we're in the car. He told us that it might have been a long time since our parents learned the safe cross code, and about the importance of buckling up, so it is Our Responsibility to remind our parents and siblings to stay safe! We also talked about staying safe in October, when there are often fireworks and bonfires around our communities. Garda Frank also took time to answer some of our many, many questions! We hope we'll get to see Garda Frank again in the future! Junior Infants and new children to Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class only.
Proofs of photos went home in your child’s schoolbag on Tuesday 7th of October. If you are interested in purchasing the photos please return the proofs, payment and order form to your child’s class teacher by Tuesday 14th of October. A letter was sent home and emailed on Wednesday 8th October informing parents of a School Drop-Off Programme, for Senior Infants to 2nd Class.
The Parents’ Association will be running a trial the week of 20th October. Please show your support by signing up to be a volunteer. Just a reminder that the school will be closed this Friday 10th October to facilitate elections.
