Our building work for the start of the school year is almost complete!

From 10am to 12pm on Tuesday 25th August, we would love to see lots of volunteers at the school to help us distribute furniture to the classrooms so that teachers can prepare for the children's first day on Monday 31st August.

John, our caretaker, will be directing operations and Nicola, our school secretary, will be there to welcome you and to assign tasks. All you need to do is turn up and help out. There will certainly be physical work involved, carrying furniture from one room to another, but we'll also find non-physical work for those who would like to volunteer but aren't able for physical work.

It will be a great opportunity to see the school and to meet other parents.

No need to sign up or to let us know in advance. Just turn up at the school around 10am. We look forward to seeing you then!

If, for ANY reason, there is a chance that your child will not be returning to Citywest ETNS this year, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.

For the coming school year, it looks like all classes* will have between 19 and 22 children per class. This is an amazing opportunity for the children. Lower class sizes mean each child gets more time with their teacher and gets more time as the focus of their class... More time to talk, more time to question, more time to be heard, ... 

Along with our large classrooms, our growing wealth of resources and our skilled staff members, this means wonderful opportunities for every child! We are very excited to see what the new school year will bring!

We still have a limited number of school places available, at every class level. Pre-enrol for this year or for a future year online today!

*3rd class will have slightly more, at approx. 26, which is still lower than the national average!

We are very busy working away at preparations for the new school year. Extensive building work is taking place in changing what was our PE hall into a fabulous new classroom for 3rd class - a wet area including sink is going in, as well as built-in storage and an Interactive WhiteBoard.

Further work is taking place in a whole new wing of the building - on the ground floor inside the school gate - to provide two new classrooms and a shared play/learning area for them, a library, principal's office, meeting room, toilets, lots of storage and an amazing double-height PE hall! We are very excited about moving into this new space.

The work is so extensive on that new wing that it will not be quite ready for the start of the school year. However, we have secured two lovely classrooms for the Senior Infant children on the top floor of our current building and have secured a full-class kit-out for those classes, including wet area and sink, Interactive WhiteBoards and a new toilet block for them to use for September while waiting for their new classrooms. We have been assured that our new wing will be ready by the end of September.

Once that work is completed, work will start on preparing rooms for our new Special Class. This will include a classroom, a life skills room, Resource teaching room, toilets, storage, a multi-sensory room AND a multi-sensory garden! The children starting in this class will have a unique opportunity as the classrooms will be designed based on their specific needs. 

We are very grateful to the Department of Education for funding all of this work and to DDLETB for undertaking it on behalf of the Department. In addition, our Board of Management are working hard behind the scenes in securing the best value-for-money contracts we can for the coming year and in seeking cost-saving measures for our school.
