We are MOST excited to announce that our parent education, engagement and fun programme continues to grow! On 6th April, Nicola Sherwood, who lives locally to the school, will start a Bokwa Fitness class for adults in our PE hall! The class will run from 8pm to 9pm each Wednesday evening. Watch this space for more details!
Following on from the success of our first 6 week series of Irish classes for parents, a second series will be kicking off tomorrow morning. Parents who have attended the classes to date have given very positive feedback, saying that the classes are enjoyable and interesting. But for those of you who are not available in the morning time, we are delighted to announce that a series of evening classes will be kicking off this Tuesday evening. Classes take place in the Meeting Room, 7.30-8.30p.m. These are relaxed lessons for beginners with an emphasis on conversational Irish. They are suitable for anybody in our school community - whether you have learned Irish before or not. You will gain a basic grasp of Irish vocabulary and sentence structure. Your confidence with the language will grow, helping you support your child's learning of Irish. As Seachtain na Gaeilge approaches, this is the perfect time to brush up your Irish or pick up your first cúpla focal (couple of words). If you would be interested in attending Irish classes, at a cost of €3 per class, on Monday mornings (8.45am) or Tuesday evenings (7.30pm), and you have not previously contacted us, please fill in the form below. Second Class have been very busy over the past few weeks - writing scripts and preparing a presentation to be recorded and published on our school YouTube channel. They have made these videos to help children and their parents when they are adding two-digit numbers at home. Having these videos should help parents to see how we add two-digit numbers at school, so that children do not get confused by parents and teachers explaining things in different ways.
Check out the post on Second Class' website for more. We are currently enrolling for September 2015. The committee is composed of a Teacher Nominee, a Parent nominee and a Board Nominee, and is tasked with ascertaining the aims of our school community, in relation to the teaching of Ethical Education in our school, as well as our celebration of cultural and religious festivals within the school.
The committee's first meeting was very productive and gave the members of the committee an opportunity to consider the issues that are specifically relevant to Citywest Educate Together. The committee are currently working on creating a survey to be circulated to all parents, which will give each member of our school community an opportunity to have their say. We look forward to engaging in this process and to the further development of our school vision. Do you and your child like the service?

Maths Week 2014 took place from 11 to 19 October and we had a great time opening our Maths Eyes at school! All of the classes had a particular focus on Maths throughout the week, with the infant classes playing lots of Maths games, and First and Second class even having a Maths Quiz on Friday afternoon! Parents had an opportunity to get involved by checking out the maths trail signage throughout the school. Congratulations to John McManus who won the Guess the Amount competition, when he guessed that the small jar had more cubes than the larger one. (The large jar contained 125 blocks and the smaller one, 129). Watch out on the individual class websites for more information about their Maths Week activities!
