As you know, we are always advocating for our children and looking for as much support as possible for them. Anita and our class teachers, along with the parents concerned, spent endless hours in September putting together applications for additional SNA and Resource teaching support for children throughout the school. We are delighted that our work has paid off and we have been able to appoint not one but two additional teachers to our school on foot of those applications.
This benefits not only the children allocated additional support. Every child benefits when additional needs are recognised and allocated additional support - this means that every child in the school can also access more support in their learning.
We are still waiting for the Department of Education to make a decision on additional SNA support for children throughout the country and we are keeping our fingers crossed that those applications will be successful too and we can appoint more SNAs before the end of 2016.
Trina O'Donnell will be working in our school on a full-time basis and Bobby Kelly will be working in our school two days a week, with the other three days each week spent in St. Dominic's NS in Tallaght.
